Working With Me
I specialize in working with seniors in Northern Virginia.
I hold both the Seniors Real Estate Specialist® (SRES®) designation and the Certified Senior Housing Professional® (CSHP®) designation.
My CSHP training took nearly a year to complete and involved much more than classroom instruction. I toured senior living communities and sat down with seniors to hear directly how they made the decision to move. I also developed and submitted my plan for serving older clients and met with an advisory board to review the work I had completed before the certification was granted.
The training continues through ongoing education and collaboration with other CSHP members.
I often begin working with clients well before a move is on the calendar. I’ve helped seniors move to 55+ communities, transition to assisted living, and work through the details of moving into a smaller home.
What we work through together
• Where you might want to live and what your options actually are
• What to do with a home full of belongings accumulated over decades
• Who to bring in for the physical and logistical parts of a move
• How a move may affect your finances, healthcare planning, and family
Who else may be part of the conversation
• Adult children
• A professional fiduciary
• An aging life care manager
• An estate or elder law attorney
I’m comfortable working alongside anyone you want involved. With your permission, I can also coordinate directly with them when that would be helpful to you.
A client I still think about
One of my clients needed to move to an assisted living community following some health issues. I connected him with a move manager and an estate sale specialist who helped him decide what to keep and what to let go of.
After he settled into his new home, he became ill again, and I visited him in the hospital. He passed away before everything connected with his home was complete, so I continued working with his sister and trustee. Being invited to his memorial service is something I still think about.
His experience reminds me that this work is never simply about selling a home. It’s about building relationships, helping people through difficult decisions, and remaining present when circumstances change.
A network built for this stage of life
Through my Life Well Planned seminar series, I work regularly with estate attorneys, aging life care managers, death doulas, occupational therapists, and memory care specialists. When you need a referral, it comes from someone I know and trust.
Start with a conversation
You don’t need to have a move planned or know exactly what comes next. Starting the conversation early gives us time to talk through your options and decide what, if anything, makes sense for you.
